Welcome to AI House Davos!
The Davos promenade was buzzing this morning as attendees from all over the world gathered to discuss AI House’s first theme of the week: “State of AI”
AI has developed rapidly. It’s the dominant topic of discussion along the icy streets of Davos. But where do we currently stand? What patterns have we learned about AI that can help guide us? What shifts are we seeing? Those questions were on our minds as we kicked off an exciting week at AI House.
The morning began with the AI women’s breakfast, which was a great networking opportunity and exchange of ideas for women working in tech, AI, and entrepreneurship.
At lunchtime we marked AI House’s official launch with our Opening Ceremony, featuring some words of welcome from our co-initiators. Speakers included Benedikt Wechsler, Ambassador and Head of - Division for Digitalisation State Secretariat of Switzerland, who also discussed AI’s potentia and what stakeholders need to do to ensure a safe future. “Let’s make this technology safe and trustworthy,” he said.
At “AI — The Ultimate Invention,” G42 CEO Peng Xiao was in conversation with Amy Webb and Forbes’ Diane Brady on AI’s potential, diversity, and how different markets from the US to China to Europe are approaching AI.
How can AI help achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)? That’s been a question on the minds of top leaders gathering in Davos. In “AI for Humanitarian and Development applications,” our panel dove into how to make sure low- and middle-income countries can benefit from the AI boom too.
In “AI in Peace and Conflict,” we discussed one of the biggest risks in AI: the use or misuse of AI in armed conflicts, from AI-driven weapons to AI-infused decision making.
The night concluded with our Partner and Initiator dinner.
Join us at AI House on Tuesday, where we’ll be diving into “AI Opportunities & Risks” and looking into big questions about how AI can safely contribute to solving some of the global biggest challenges.
